heirloom II

Being home this weekend
produced as well some old thrift stuff.

To take our mind from some sad things,
I rummage through our various cupboards
and found the old camera of my Grandpa.

Though my Dad was quite making fun of me
when I showed up with my Diana,
he just too readily inserted the film
and started to take pictures.

So we went for a walk and took
some pics of the grey winter weather,
hoping to fill the film with some nicer pics
over the next weekends.

newspaper basket -- literally

Hadn't had such a great week and
even a sader weekend.

So to get my hands occupied
and to be able to clean the flat as well in the run
I followed the instructions for a diy

found on how about orange
for a newspaper basket
and included a bow like they did on craftstylish
and am actually quite happy with how it turned out:

Don't actually know
if I'll be posting that regularly
over the next couple of weeks
as I have to deal with some personal things.
But as I like blogging,
there might at least be a couple of posts each week.

Deutschland -- Ein Wintermärchen VI

Alstervergnügen 2010

What we tell the small ones (in german)

This ones concerning
something that you can only misinterpret
if you're like 6 and speaking only german.

So it'll be as well in german,
sorry for the inconvenience.

Bauernregel:
Ist’s an Lichtmess hell und rein,
wird ein langer Winter sein.
Wenn es aber stürmt und schneit,
ist der Frühling nicht mehr weit.

Heute ist der 2. Februar -- Lichtmess.

Hamburg -- harbour at night.

Birthday weekend

Oh how I love those weekends,
that just turn out to be a whole weekend
of birthdays and not just one single day.

Though I so didn't look forward to it,
it still got pretty great with lots of fun
things we did and lots and lots of unhealthy stuff we eat:

Pic overload!

Om nom nom -- muffin before watching the Lion king.

Right after watching the Lion king,
leaving with a ferry boat!
Just magic on that half frozen river.

Brunch on Saturday morning at the most amazing place ever.

Just had to take pictures of this amazing place...

Attended the Alstervergnügen on Saturday afternoon.

Spiced whine on the frozen river Alster (Außenalster).

Just got popcorn at a cinema
to have it while watching movies at home.

Had cookies, ice cream and cake with the popcorn,
of course tummy hurt later that night.

Stayed in bed all Sunday,
and got some of the best presents ever
(so yes, books -- and something that helps me accomplish some goals
buy just looking at the fridge).

Hope you had a great weekend.
We sure did.

and now were're happy and excited and can't wait to get to the brunch.

week letter review part III

This week really was kind of strange
and a lot of things happened.
But I accomplished a lot as well.

I'm right now off to Hamburg,
going to a musical,
having maybe some cupcakes tomorrow
and as well hopefully a splendid time.
And to get this week of my back,
here's again a little review,
of all the things, that happened.
Though this time, not in chronological order.

Monday: Dear stamps,
just because it's like minus ten, doesn't mean you can just not stick to that letter! It took me quite some time to write it and therefore I like it to reach its destination safely, though I don't know how it is taken and thinking about not having it send.

Dear Henna,
apparently you are giving me quite a red color. Now all I have to do is decide if that suits me and then be brave enough.

Dear me,
you need to get a haircut. And no, just coloring it doesn't count as you have a lot of spit ends...

Tuesday: Dear knee,
it's sport. It's supposed to be good and healthy and so on. So stop hurting please.

Wednesday: Dear winter weather,
I love you. But wouldn't it be just perfect if the streets were fine enough to ride a bike?

Thursday: Dear grown up stuff,
I'm not ready for you yet. Could you maybe sent someone over for all this contents and annuity insurance? That's something no one should deal with.

Dear old most beloved roommate,
thanks for changing this day into something so happy.

Friday: Dear week,
I was kind of whiny and needed a lot of attention from my hon and finally you are over and maybe, but just maybe, the weekend could be full of some small wonders, laughter and happy moments (Sauna, so in need of a Sauna and maybe Cupcakes and some shopping).

Giving out free hugs

Somehow I'm a bit chatty lately.
Hope you still stick with me.

One of the reasons I fell in love with my hon was for his kind heart. He was always someone hugging you when saying hi as well as goodbye. When we met at someones place to learn or work on a project and we were in the middle of another break, you could rest your head on his shoulder and too easily fall asleep while he wouldn't move one inch. He would tickle you to death, gave you a head massage if you felt your head falling off by too much coding and just give you a feeling of being loved and welcomed and appreciated.

Three years ago he went to the WGT in Leipzig* with huge poster saying "Free Hugs" and hugging way over 200 people on this day he truly followed his nature**.

He is still like that and I still envy him for his open manner. I like to be more like him, acting more affectionate around people, especially among friends. But I somehow can't -- feeling always awkward and intimidated keeps me from those things. But I'm trying. And actually doing better lately.

So got any plans for May, 21st - 24th?

* Note: they weren't doing it because all those dark poor people needed a hug, but because they are those of the open, kindest manner.

** I so want to post pictures, but couldn't find any. There might be some later on.
